While a machine is returned, the best practice is to repeat the machine walkaround process that was performed with the customer before the rental. This is a crucial time to evaluate the condition of the machine and scrutinize any issues or damages, and this is where the significance of those pre-rental photos, we had mentioned before cannot be ignored. Unfortunately, if there is any damage detected, that a renter dispute was there before him/her renting the machine, photos can prove who is responsible for bearing the repair costs.
Coming to the principal maintenance component of the return process, it is better to refer to the manual of the machine’s operator. It must contain suggestions applicable to each machine. However, a general maintenance checklist with five basic steps is as follows-:
- Cleanse the machine, get rid of the debris and other dirt, wash down, and wash wheels, if relevant
- Lubricate vital points. A machine is more conducive to grease while it has recently cooled down to a safe temperature after it has been working instead of after sitting idle
- Rub the extra grease from and around grease-to-flush cavities
